These Terms govern your use of the snowdex.app website (the “Service”). By using it you agree to them.

1. What SnowDex is

SnowDex shows estimated snowfallfor places in the contiguous United States over fixed windows (24 hours, 72 hours and the season so far) from NOAA’s National Snowfall Analysis, and the National Weather Service forecast for the next 72 hours. It is free and needs no account.

2. Estimate and safety disclaimer — please read

• Snow totals are estimates for a ~4 km grid cell, not measurements at your property. They can differ from what you measure because of drifting, settling, melting, terrain and how much snow varies over short distances, and they can be far off inside narrow lake-effect bands.
• Totals are revised: NOAA refines each analysis for about five days, so a number may change.
• Forecasts are forecasts. They change, and the snow that falls may differ from them.
• The Service is not a substitute for official warnings from the National Weather Service, local authorities or emergency services. Never rely on it alone for travel or life-safety decisions.

You use SnowDex at your own discretion and risk.

3. Acceptable use

Do not scrape or bulk-extract the site’s data, resell it as your own product, interfere with the site’s operation, or use it in a way that violates applicable law.

4. Intellectual property and third-party data

The site’s design and original content are ours. Snowfall, forecast and climate data come from NOAA and the National Weather Service; U.S. government data is public domain and not claimed by us. NOAA does not endorse this site, and third-party data is provided without warranty.

5. No warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and without any promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, property, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

7. Changes

We may change or discontinue the Service and update these Terms; the date above changes when they do. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal and applicable EU law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of those laws.
